"Orderchamp gives us the ability to grow easily and quickly in Europe, and we are extremely happy about that."
How did you come up with the idea of Love Ibiza?
Love Ibiza was founded out of my passion for designing accessories and jewellery that reflect the atmosphere of Ibiza. Nine years ago I was really looking for certain products that I could not find anywhere. There were hardly any webshops back then and it certainly wasn't as easy as it is now to get certain products. Since I couldn't find the products anywhere, I started making them myself first. For example, I was making my own sandals with a snake print since I wanted them so badly but could not find them anywhere. I then started buying scarves, clothes and jewellery that completely matched my taste to sell them on a webshop.
One day I also got the idea of bracelets and I couldn't find them anywhere either. I was determined to find these and wanted to choose my own colours and prints and that was not available anywhere. This search led to the creation of Love Ibiza. I abandoned the clothing and started focusing entirely on the bracelets and jewellery. The name Love Ibiza comes from the unique atmosphere, the colourful style and the freedom the island exudes, it's a real inspiration for me.
Love Ibiza was soon picked up, including online. At first I only worked from home, then I moved into an office and Love Ibiza kept growing. Now we are sitting there with a team of twelve amazing employees.
What makes Love Ibiza different from other jewellery web shops?
I have my own taste and I try to radiate that, I really try to stay close to my own style. This ensures that Love Ibiza remains unique and true to itself. I can see a turquoise leaf on the street and think: oh I can do something with that! I also get inspiration from magazines, fonts and illustrations. It is the chaos in my head that makes Love Ibiza and so I have gathered the girls around me who help translate it into products and expressions.
We also try to make our process and appearance really personal. We make many products by hand, package the orders ourselves and include a handwritten bill. As a result, you don't just get a package in, you get an experience. Even I sit at the table threading the bracelets and writing the cards. I enjoy that as an entrepreneur.
How did you build such a large online community?
Through social media, Love Ibiza was quickly picked up by a large group of consumers, hair salons and lifestyle stores. Unlike now, it was fairly easy to grow on social media back then. So part of the community I also took with me from my early days, they started following me on Instagram through Facebook as well. On Instagram nowadays, there is a lot of competition from influencers, so as a brand you have to switch well between sending products and the experience you want to attach to your brand. It's harder to grow on Instagram now than it was then, also with Instagram's algorithm being so complicated.
What are your further goals for Love Ibiza?
First, my goal was to have a whole floor full of amazing employees in the office, that goal has definitely already been achieved. Also, we just went to Mexico for a shoot, which was fantastic, a real milestone. For the future I would like to be in all beautiful places worldwide, like LA. When you walk along the beach and see Love Ibiza at all the nice beach tents. In addition, among other things, a collaboration with a brand or an influencer is also on the list of ideas we would like to work on.
Do you have a lot of international clients?
We have very many international customers, our sales channels really go worldwide. We currently have more than two hundred B2B customers in many different places. From France to Germany to even an island somewhere in the South Pacific. Orderchamp gives us the opportunity to grow easily and quickly in Europe without having to do any acquisition ourselves, and we are very happy with that.
Why did you decide to sell at Orderchamp?
Orderchamp is a great platform for us to continue to grow B2B. We get requests from new retailers every week, but now with Orderchamp the requests have really tripled. Before, we only got B2B requests through the mail because it was in our insta-bio or through other channels because people saw our card on our products, it was really an organic growth. Now through Orderchamp it's easy and fast.
Do you have any tips for start-ups in your industry?
You have to start from the right reason. from your passion for the brand you want to start and not for wanting to make money. If you really have your own intrinsic passion for colours, materials and jewellery, for example, it will all come naturally. Try to stay original and express your own passion. A good example of this is our Instagram account. We wanted to keep this one completely in one style; a beautiful feed, all shades of brown and perfectly matching each other so it looked beautiful. But personally I'm not like that, I'm into colours and chaos so we let this go. You have to radiate who you really are, otherwise it won't last either. It is difficult, you also look at others and get inspiration from them, but you have to be careful to stay yourself and believe in your own taste.
